Abstract This paper identifies the materials used to make a brocade belt belonging Qajar courtiers in Iran. consists of two fabric types: red support and golden brocade. Accordingly, this examined skin tannin type, fiber types, dyeing agents, mordant, metal wrapping yarns buckle. Technical imaging, ESI–MS, FORS, FTIR SEM–EDS were identify materials. Multi-band imaging methods included Vis, UVL, IRR, UVR, which UVFC IRFC images obtained after processing. The results showed that cotton yarn was both fabrics. dyed using cochineal alum mordant. Also, yellow catechins-rich plants, process, polyphenols have been as Madder-dyed are also found parts belt. Examination suggests strips copper-nickel alloy with thin layer gold-silver alloy. secondary coating protects increases their luster. leather analysis indicated cattle/calfskin tanned gallotannins. Belt buckle shows use brass high percentage zinc, leading sheen desired strength. show low-cost manufacture clothing for lower levels court.
